Betting on yourself will rewrite everything
I’ve been reading an intriguing book called 10X is easier than 2X by Dan Sullivan & Dr. Benjamin Hardy. Thank you Sara Stern for the gift. I’m hooked! This book has really opened my eyes to the power of thinking bigger, and has reminded me it’s not about doing things more arduously to get to 10X, but instead on a much broader scale and making conscious choices to give up the life you were living in order to have the life you want.

I recently returned from Las Vegas, and honestly I was dreading going, only I don’t think I realized to what extent it had been haunting me. The last time I was in Las Vegas was a low point in my journey, it ended in a divorce and essentially when I started my life over. It’s a perfect example of shifting from a 2X mindset to living a 10X life.
In that era, I reached a crossroads — either stay the jack of all trades or become the leader my creative company needed. Choosing leadership meant stepping away from production, but I knew that letting go would create space for a greater vision to unfold. It’d take a lot of metamorphosis along the way and certainly would become the most challenging journey to go from being a modest studio to becoming a nationally recognized brand.
“Innovation occurs as you break everything down and put it back together in a simpler, easier, and better form.”
~Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy

Since my last trip to Vegas, Mercury Mosaics has 7X’d in size. I have to let this sink in, because I’m in this business day in and day out and sometimes I lose sight of how far this dream has come. My trip to KBIS this year was a major milestone in my career. I experienced it as an incredible acknowledgement to all the sacrifices made to build what is now Mercury Mosaics.
If I could visit the version of myself that was last in Las Vegas, I'd lean in close and say — you're about to build a life that’s fully yours. Walk away. Trust the unknown. Betting on yourself will rewrite everything — and the best part? It’ll be even better than you’re dreaming.
At that time I promised myself that I would build a nationally recognized mosaic company and work with some of the best in the industry. Little did I know in this short time that many of those milestones would be met.
"Every great design begins with an even better story." ~Lorinda Mamo

Next, the pandemic pushed Mercury Mosaics to adapt in more ways than we ever imagined. In the pursuit of progress, we layered on too much complexity without realizing it — and in doing so, drifted from our core magic. This moment marks a powerful return to clarity, where we're stripping back the excess and doubling down on what we're best at: handcrafted tile that sparks joy. Driving this renewed focus is what we've always done best: customizing our signature tile shapes into bespoke mosaic patterns that bring each client's vision to life.
At KBIS, we partnered with the Cafe Appliances team and really leaned into our bespoke mosaic pattern world, crafting three looks for their premier booth. In a call with their marketing and brand leaders, they called out that KBIS is like the Oscars for the Cafe Appliance brand and I now understand why!
"The most important thing is that you love what you are doing, and the second is that you are not afraid of where your next idea will lead." ~Charles Eames
In addition to designing three looks for this Oscar-worthy booth, we brought a new glaze to life soon to be added to our color palette. Introducing Black Cherry - a deep, moody fusion of rich merlot and velvety espresso, this shade is pure drama in the best way. It’s bold yet refined, like a perfectly aged wine or the glow of embers after a roaring fire. Whether making a statement in a backsplash or grounding a space with its depth, Black Cherry delivers warmth, sophistication, and just the right touch of intrigue.
There I was, last trip in Vegas, not many had ever heard of Mercury Mosaics. This time in Vegas, I felt like the Bella of the Ball and we’d had the honor of working with some of the best brands in the industry under our belt. This includes, but not limited to: Gensler, Hilton, P.F. Changs, 23 & Me, Headspace, Disney, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Whitney Museum of Art, lululemon, Whole Foods, John Hopkins University, Walmart, Starbucks, Room & Board, Google & Amazon.
We’ve been recognized by these publications: New York Times, Martha Stewart, Dwell, Wall Street Journal, Luxe Magazine, Architectural Digest, Fast Company, Inc Magazine, Apartment Therapy, HGTV Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens & Atomic Ranch.
The inspiration and excitement from KBIS this year in Vegas sparked a lot of joy. I’m excited to bring you along for the multitude of special projects and partnerships Mercury Mosaics has been marinating over the last 2 years! We've been holding onto some magic behind the scenes, and every reveal is a little love note from our craft to your feed. The best things take time — and I can't wait to share what's been in the works.
