This one was made to remember.

I created Grit during a period of significant transition in my life. I was establishing a personal art studio away from Mercury Mosaics while simultaneously helping my brother dismantle and sell our childhood home. It was a season of letting go, rebuilding, and trying to understand who I was becoming after years of pouring so much of myself into the business.

Throughout every evolution of Mercury Mosaics, there has been a recurring tension in my life. I often think of Mercury as a powerful ocean and myself as a surfer learning to navigate the next set of waves. The waves change. The conditions change. Sometimes I get knocked down. But I never lose myself beneath the surface.

I always return to the work.

This piece reflects that relationship between creativity and perseverance. Not the kind of perseverance that asks us to push harder, but the kind that quietly calls us back to what matters most.

Handcrafted from handmade ceramic tile and framed as wall art, Grit represents the ongoing practice of remaining an artist through every season of growth, uncertainty, reinvention, and change.
